Achille Castiglioni was born in Milan in 1918, graduated in Architecture in 1944. His primary interest focuses on experimentation on industrial product and together with the two brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo began an instrumental use research of new materials and the creation of functional forms the serial production. Intense will be his academic activities both at the 'University of Milan’ and in the Turin area.
Winner of nine Golden Compasses, his creations are at the MoMa in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum, received two honorary degrees in London and Milan, also active in the field of town planning, it is one of the best known and loved names the international design, he died in Milan in 2002.
His accomplishments are characterized by simplicity and subtle irony, thick prototypes arose from the assembly of everyday items and then transforms into connotations objects from a particular attention to aesthetic and technical details.
